CALCULUS I

The 1st semester/year of Calculus is the first math course that counts for a major in mathematics.  Calculus is about the study of functions and is broken down into two main branches - The Derivative and The Integral.  Calculus was invented to solve science problems that previously could not have been solved with the tools in the 16th century.   Engineers, Physicists, Economists and other branches of science all use the concepts  developed in this course to solve problems in their respective fields.  The following topics are typically covered in a Calculus I course:

  • Limits

  • The Derivative

  • Applications of the Derivative

  • The Integral

  • Applications of The Integral
